As with all products and services, it pays to shop around for the best price on VoIP internet phone service before you buy. Many people believe that the best price is obtained by purchasing directly through the VoIP provider’s website. This seems logical, because the company providing the service should be in the best position to offer the lowest price right? Not necessarily. It has been my experience as a savvy internet shopper (about 80% of my purchases for home and business are made online) that most of the time you will get a discount code or rebate if you buy through a third party link. VoIP service is no exception. To get the best VoIP deals, purchasing through a reseller or affiliate link will usually net the biggest savings.
If you are thinking about signing up for VoIP service (or for that matter, purchasing anything on the internet), spend a few extra minutes and try my technique. You’ve got nothing to lose and could save quite a bit of money.
Here’s how to find the best VoIP deals:
—————————————
1 - Research and compare VoIP service providers. To get you started, here are some of the major players (and most reputable VoIP providers) in the small business and residential VoIP industry right now:
Vonage, Packet8, SunRocket, Voip.net, Lingo, AT&T CallVantage
Hint: A quick way to find easy to read, consolidated information is to Google for terms like “compare VoIP providers”, “VoIP comparison” or “VoIP reviews”. A quick shortcut would be to visit my website, where you can see side-by-side comparison of several major VoIP providers.
2 - Narrow down your choices from the information you gather. Try to pick 1-3 VoIP providers who offer packages that best meet your needs. If you stick to big name providers like those mentioned above, you can focus more on the features and price they offer and not have to worry too much about quality of service.
3 - Visit the vendor’s official website and note the cost details of the plan you are interested in. Things to consider are setup fee, monthly service fee, shipping charges and cost of any additional equipment you want. Most vendors will give you a basic VoIP adapter for free. You may want to upgrade however, to a multi-port adapter, an adapter/phone combination device, or even a video phone. These items cost extra, but it’s usually cheaper to buy them from the VoIP provider than anywhere else (easier to maintain too, because if the provider sells it he will provide support for it).
4 - With the vendor’s pricing information in hand, go back to Google and start searching for discounts or special offers. Some examples of terms to search for might be “Packet8 coupon”, “Vonage rebate” or “VoIP deal”. More often than not, you will find links to sites offering special discounts that will save you money. By clicking through the third party link and making a purchase, you get the exact same service with the exact same provider but you get it for less money!
This process might sound crazy to you, but I guarantee you will find a VoIP deal nearly every time! Here’s a little secret that explains how this works:
Most large companies that have an internet presence promote their products through resellers or affiliate links. Independent website owners partner with the vendor and receive permission to promote the vendors product (this is called affiliate marketing) in exchange for a commission on each sale. It is then up to the affiliate to do all the advertising and promotion. This gives vendors a much cheaper and wider scope of marketing because hundreds (or even thousands) of people are advertising and promoting their products for the price of a small commission.
Because it’s in the vendor’s best interest to help the affiliate make a sale, they offer him/her an incentive (like a discount or coupon to promote), that is not available to the general public. It’s a cheap and effective way for VoIP providers (and all merchants) to advertise, and everybody wins. The vendor makes a sale, the affiliate gets a paycheck and the consumer gets a discount!
I use this technique for nearly every purchase I make on the internet, and have saved thousands of dollars over the years. Sometimes the savings are small (like free shipping), but many times I save a lot of money through instant coupon discounts and huge rebates.
I used this method when I subscribed to Packet8 VoIP service (a provider I highly recommend) and received just under $100 in rebates by signing up through an affiliate link and purchasing a whole-house Uniden 1868P phone system (an add-on that I am really glad I bought - it’s wonderful). Buying through an affiliate link not only saves you money, it also helps support the folks who spend a lot of time and effort creating and sharing tons of great information on the internet. Before signing up for VoIP service, be sure to find a third party link to click through - you will get the best VoIP deal this way and save yourself some money!

In 2005 scientist’s dreams of carbon Nanotube material came alive. We saw the first carbon nanotube sheets produced. Research Scientists were amazed at the incredible strength of the material, but that is not all, as the material was so thin it could remain transparent. Still more good news, it conducted electricity and it was flexible. Now then the scientists thought about all the applications for such a material, they are truly endless indeed.
Everything from racecars, space ships and jet fighter planes were considered. All of which could use such properties. An invisible airplane with a flexible wing, which was stronger than steel, get out! No, it is true; think of it. The computer display companies said well we can make ultra thin laptops with this material. The Navy said we can make a whole ship out of it, maybe an aircraft carrier.
NASA said wow, we can build rockets, space station and it is perfect for our Lunar Colony Building too. NASCAR said “hoo hoo, we can make stronger, safer, lighter and faster racecars!” The Police Departments saif we can put bulletproof windows in our cars and make these bulletproof vest less cumbersome. Boeing said, hey we can make an aircraft like the 747, which weighs 80% less and can carry more, further with less fuel. Indeed, indeed.
Now then there is only one problem. That is going into 2006 these carbon nano tube sheets are too expensive to make and until we get a better manufacturing process for them, many of these applications are completely out of the question. So what will 2006 do for carbon nanotubes? Scientists will find ways to make them cheaply and efficiently and by the end of the year have that problem solved, even if only on paper. Carbon Nanotubes are on there way and once here, they are here to stay. So think on this in 2006

I have often been asked what the best way to start a business is You can purchase a franchise or set up your own business from scratch. Different approaches suit different people.
The world is rife with franchise opportunities.Franchises are everywhere.A key benefit in buying into a franchise is that you essentially get a readymade business. When you buy a franchise, you can usually rest assured that every aspect of your new business has already been considered by someone. There are many different franchises available. Some will give you the business name, equipment and everything you need for start up, others only give you the basics and you still have to buy or lease a location, purchase equipment and the inventory you will need.
The negatives of buying a franchise however are that you are not free to change much of your business model, and of course the initial outlay. Visit the Key Mergers website for more information or if you would like to f you would like to buy a business or for details of available franchises.
Starting from zero and building a you very own company however means that you can grow the business organically over time, you can limit your initial outlay and you can be as creative with the direction of your business as you like. However, your model may not be tried and tested and you will likely have to develop your own support network from the ground up along with your business.
At the end of the day, the decision whether to buy a franchise or follow your own path are dependent on what your want to get out of the enterprise. There is a trade-off between creativity, fleximility, risk and reward.
If you have read any of my previous articles, you know that I am a big advocate of database management. The purpose of this article is to dig deeper into the nuts and bolts of how to build, develop, and maximize your database with the goal of increasing your profits.
Many business people do not even have a database, and those that do many times do not consider it anything more than an electronic rolodex designed to keep track of phone numbers and email addresses. I can tell you from personal experience that a database, if properly cultivated, can be so much more, and can in fact be one of the keys to increasing your business.
We will explore the following five key elements of building a successful database in this article:
1. If I don’t already have a database, how do I get started?
2. What characteristics should I look for in a database program?
3. What information should I put into my database?
4. What tasks should my database accomplish?
5. Database maintenance and daily use.
If I don’t already have a database, how do I get started?
If you don’t already have a database, the key is to get started as soon as possible and get in the habit of using your database every time you come into contact with a prospect, business partner, or customer.
Do not get analysis paralysis and over-analyze the situation. It is important to understand that habits take time to develop, and using your database will not be easy at first. Especially in the first month, you will spend a lot of time getting your database up and running. There will be a lot of data entry involved to get your current contacts into your database.
The first step is to gather all of your paper records so that you can enter them into your database. Customer mailing lists, rolodexes, business cards, old files, anything you have that has contact info for people you have come into contact with. You should include past customers, prospects, business contacts, and anyone else you know.
The other thing to consider is what database system to use. It is difficult to start with one database and then switch to another a couple months later, so do your homework and decide which one will best fit your needs. There are many industry-specific database programs, especially in fields such as real estate, and there are also some good general-purpose programs such as ACT! and Outlook. My program of choice is ACT!, and although it is not without it faults, it accomplishes 99% of what I am looking for in a database program.
What characteristics should I look for in a database?
Your database program, on a basic level, should keep track of phone numbers, email addresses, physical addresses, and other contact info. It should also be customizable so that you can add fields to keep track of specific data that is important to you or your line of work. For instance, I am in the mortgage industry, so one of the features I like about ACT! is that I have been able to add a couple hundred specific fields to my database such as information about the loan that my clients have, their financial information, and other mortgage-related data.
I have also programmed in fields that help me with prospects such as time frame for buying, most important hot points, best time to call, referral source, referral date, and other relevant data for follow up.
There should also be a place where you can take notes under each contact. I use the notes/history tab in ACT! to record key elements of each conversation I have with a prospect, client, or business partner and try to take my notes immediately after the phone call. If I get an email from a contact, I simply copy and paste the entire email into the notes/history tab. You will find that if you take good notes on your conversations, it will be easier to build rapport because you can refer back to key points and details about your prospect that will impress upon them that you were paying attention and that they are important to you. No human can remember everything about everybody and every conversation, so take notes!
Another key feature that any database will have is the ability to schedule reminders. After each phone call I have with a person, I schedule the next appointment or phone call so that I don’t have to remember to do it. Related to this is the ability to schedule an activity series. ACT! for example has a feature where I can program in a series of activities at the click of a button that may be common to multiple contacts. The particular series is already pre- set in the system.
Mail merge capability is yet another key feature that you should look for in your database program. If you are not familiar with mail merge, you should take the time to learn what it is and how it works. Mail merge will allow you to send out a group of emails to multiple people, but customize each email for each contact you send it to, using information from their contact record. For example, you can send out 100 emails, and each one will be customized to say “Dear “First Name.” This is a powerful feature that if used can help build your business with minimal effort on your part. Mail merge can also be used to generate customized paper letters.
The final feature that must be part of your database program is the ability to do complex lookups. What I mean by this is that you must have the capability, for example, to look up all contacts in your database who bought something between July and December of 2005, or you may want to look up all of your clients with last names from A-M. Basic database programs will only allow you to look up contacts on one level. Better database programs, such as ACT! will allow you to look up on multiple levels. For example, a good database program will let you look up all of you clients in California, and then further narrow it down within that group to Clients with last names from A-M. Not so good database programs will only allow you to look up clients in California, but then you couldn’t go another level down and narrow the search. You will find that you want this feature as you get deeper into databasing.
What information should I put into my database?
At the very least, your database program should serve as an electronic rolodex. But, with only this minimal information, that’s all it will be to you. Again, it is important to make sure you are getting a program that is customizable so that you can add the fields you want. In addition to phone number, addresses, and names, here is a brief list of some of the items that I have included in my database:
Referral source, referral date, website address, best time to contact, preferred form of contact, hot points for sales, ID number, status, time frame, birth date, number of children, hobbies, surveys, and industry specific information that pertains to your business.
You should also have a notes section in which to record notes on conversations with your contacts. It is also very useful if your database program keeps a history of emails, phone calls, and appointments that are recorded automatically when you “clear” your reminders.
What tasks should my database accomplish?
Your database should allow you to follow up with your prospects, clients, and business partners, in an efficient, methodical way that doesn’t take a lot of your time. In my opinion, this is the single most important thing that your database can do for you to help you grow your business.
The key is to develop systems that help you stay in front of every person that goes into your database, literally forever. For example, I have categorized my contacts into six general categories for follow up: prospects, clients, “in process”, “delayed leads”, Realtors, and Business contacts. I have developed specific and automatic follow up systems for each category. These systems incorporate different types of contact: email, snail mail, and phone. Once a contact is put into a particular category, they are plugged into the follow up campaign for that category forever.
With a follow-up system like this in place, it is not a coincidence that when it comes time to buy, your prospects will think of you. When it comes time to refer, your business partners will refer to you. And when they do, it is important to get into the habit of opening up your database from the first second of the first phone call with each prospect or new contact. Take good notes, ask good questions, and record it all in your database. The more you know about the people you come into contact with, the easier it will be to sell more.
Database maintenance and daily use
The final key to developing an effective database is to make sure you have a maintenance system in place. You must first of all purge your database on an ongoing basis of contacts with bad phone numbers, bad emails, etc.
Once you get deep into database management, you will become so reliant on your database that it will be the backbone to your business. It is extremely important to back up your database on a regular basis and to store the backup on an external source. I am to the point where if I were to lose my database, my business would be in serious jeopardy. I back up every 3 days, and store the backup on an external hard drive as well as on my desktop.
Developing an effective database will not be an easy task and at first you may question my assertions in this article. However, with persistent work, over the course of just a few months, you will see that an effective database will transform your business and take you to new levels.

Because people with high blood pressure do not usually have any symptoms until the disease has reached an advanced stage, high blood pressure is often called the “silent killer.” That is why having blood pressure checked regularly is important.
The lack of symptoms is why some people who are aware they have high blood pressure do not take any steps to control and treat it. Because they feel okay they think everything is okay. But if high blood pressure is left untreated, serious problems may develop over time.
Uncontrolled high blood pressure can cause strokes. As high blood pressure causes a person’s arteries to get narrower and narrower, it is harder for blood to get to the brain. That can potentially cause blot clots in the brain, cause a blood vessel in the brain to leak, or cause a blood vessel in the brain to rupture.
Kidney disease (http://www.gothypertension.com/hypertension/hypertensionandkidneyfailure)can occur if high blood pressure is left untreated. If the arteries in the body are narrowed from sustained high blood pressure, the impaired flow of blood throughout the body can cause waste to build up in the blood because it is not getting to the kidneys often enough to discard all the waste products. As the waste builds up, it becomes more and more difficult for the kidneys to try and get rid of the waste, putting a big strain on the kidneys. This can cause the kidney functions to greatly diminish or even fail entirely.
If the kidneys start to function at less than twenty percent of capacity, dialysis treatments will usually be needed. A kidney transplant would be an option to avoid having to get lifetime dialysis treatments if the person is a candidate for a transplant and a kidney becomes available.
Problems with a person’s eyes can also occur as a result of untreated high blood pressure, causing a loss of vision if it gets severe enough. High blood pressure can also lead to memory loss and dementia.
Heart problems are another serious problem that can develop if high blood pressure is left untreated. The arteries in the heart can become hard and stiff from restricted blood flow, causing a condition called arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries).
It is common for people with untreated high blood pressure to have plaque accumulate in the major arteries of the heart. The plaque deposits reduce blood flow to the heart and can eventually cause a heart attack. High blood pressure narrows the arteries and blood vessels in the body. Getting oxygen rich blood to the heart becomes more difficult as the arteries get narrower. If the heart cannot get enough oxygen, it will cause a heart attack.

When I sold my business, at the age of 55, I felt liberated. Now I could do all those things that seemed so interesting, but were denied me by the “ball and chain” of small-business ownership.
Sure, in those twenty years, I had some concurrent professional activities going on. For much of the last fifteen I was a roving adjunct professor, and an occasional consultant. There were even a couple of full-time jobs in there, where frequent phone calls to, and most Saturdays at my business had to be enough to impart my unique brand of management.
So, I am available world! Or at least the greater New Orleans area.
Several months of clearing up my backlog of miscellany were rather pleasant, and then the call came. President of a local economic development agency? That sounds good to me. But I soon found out what a come-down it was from business owner/executive to political whipping-boy. Thanks for the opportunity, but I would just as soon stay home.
After another pleasant interlude of a few months, another call came. Scholar-in-Residence at a local university sounds great! And it was a pleasant two years, including one semester as a visiting scholar in New York. But financial exigency did me in. Last hired becomes first fired. Well, I did mouth-off a little too much about the administration’s shortcomings, but I am pretty sure it was the cash crunch that cost me the job.
It was the summer of my discontent. My backlog was so cleared up that I was killing time with a blunt instrument. The local economy had softened a bit, and there were no jobs to be found that came even close to the level of income and importance to which I had become accustomed.
So, how is this for an idea? Study for an MBA! I was only 60 years old then, so it should be worth the investment. I had been teaching entrepreneurship at several local business schools, so it was time that I should get my first business degree. My 35-year-old Ph.D. in engineering had pretty much expired by then.
At 62, in August 2005, I received the MBA and checked out the job market for a week or so until Katrina arrived. We evacuated in time, spent about three weeks on the road, and settled in Columbus Ohio for about three months.
In Columbus, Ohio State was very welcoming toward Katrina refugees and we were given professor offices, Susan in Political Science, mine in business. Other courtesies were extended to us through the end of the fall quarter.
The temporary nature of the Columbus stay eased the pressure to find gainful employment there. On our return, though, it would be time to peddle my new MBA.

Are you thinking about starting to write articles as a way of promoting your website? Are you looking for some advice about how to write a successful article? Have you a lack of belief in your ability to write an interesting article? Around a year ago I would have answered yes to all of these three questions but have now learnt quite a lot about article marketing. In this article, I give tips and advice to help other people to become successful article marketers.
I have now had around three hundred articles accepted at what I consider to be one of the main article directories, ezinearticles. At times, I have to admit that it can be quite a choir to think of a subject to write about, to then write the article and also to then submit the article to all of the major article directories. At other times, the words seem to just flow and it can be quite easy and even enjoyable.
The benefits of article marketing can be huge and I am happy to report that a lot of my articles have been included on many different websites, this of course creates a lot of important one-way backward links to my websites.
I have seen a large increase of traffic to my sites, which is partly no doubt down to this writing of articles. As a rule I try to write around seven to ten articles per week. If on one particular week I am not able to for whatever reason, I do not stress about it, I just see it as a break.
I try to make each article interesting and they are written from the heart, in my own style. Some of them can be quite funny, for example, I have written an article about dieting which has the title of, Have You Ever Seen A Fat Postman?
I try not to make each article too long as people may become bored half way through. At the same time I believe each article should not be too short as there is likely to be little value to the reader. My articles are normally anywhere between four and seven hundred words in length.
Most of my articles will give the reader some form of advice about the subject I am writing about. This advice of course, is my own personal opinion and comes from my own personal experiences.
I have received many e-mails from people who have enjoyed reading my articles and I have also had requests from other people who have asked if I would be willing to write articles for them.
I am sure if I can write a number of articles that everyone else can. Give it a go, you might surprise yourself.
Once you have written the article, you then need to submit it to some of the article directories. In my opinion these are the best, ezinearticles, articledashboard, goarticles, articlealley and searchwarp.

Auto insurance can make a big hole in your pocket. Insurance premiums vary hugely between companies, agencies or agents, brokers, and of course the make of the car you own and your credit rating. To pay lower insurance you must:
1. Always maintain a good driving record.
2. Never accept the first estimate you receive. Be wise and check comparisons of different insurance providers at your state insurance department website or phone them. Their addresses and contact numbers can be accessed from http://www.consumeraction.gov/insurance.shtml the consumer action website. Be sure to get competitive quotes from different insurance providers. Contact providers that are strongly recommended by people you know well. Keep your peace of mind by checking the financial stability of the companies with rating companies like A.M. Best (http://www.ambest.com/) as well as in forums and blogs.
3. Complete a market survey well before you select a car make and make a comparative table of insurance and other hidden costs. Find out which features increase insurance premiums and which ones reduce premiums. For example if parts of a certain make are hard to find or expensive such cars will have huge insurance premiums, similarly installation of anti-theft devices or an extra brake system lowers insurance premiums. Many questions are answered by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety at http://www.iihs.org/.
4. Choose to have higher deductibles this will reduce the burden by at least 15-25%. But look at your finances first and determine whether you can set aside US$ 200-US$1000 periodically to create an emergency vehicle fund.
5. Consider availing the insurance from the same company that has you covered for home, accident, or life. Many companies offer concessions to clients who have more than one kind of policy. Known as a multi-policy discount this could benefit you.
6. Most policies are based on your personal credit record. Having an unshakeable credit history can lower costs. Pay bills on time, don’t avail too many loans, and be sure that credit balances are as low as possible.
7. Avoid duplicating medical coverage. Find out whether eliminating medical cover in auto insurance will reduce your premiums or the personal injury protection costs. In some places the reduction is as much as 40%. So, if you have adequate health insurance you could weigh the pros and cons of eliminating this in auto insurance.
8. Find out if insurance premiums are dependant on where you stay. Sometimes staying in a rural community or suburbs as against the city center could save you a bundle.
9. Take advantages of discounts like low risk career, low mileage, taking public transport to work, car pooling, no violations or accidents, taking defensive driving courses, following safety rules and regulations, or having a child who studies far away.
10. Use the reductions offered for insuring more than one car belonging to the family. Many companies have special offers for corporate organizations, club members, professional groups, alumni groups, or clubs.
Make time to make a big saving. Check through all the parameters and mark areas where a saving can be made. The market is competitive and you can be the beneficiary.

Both banks and brokers have their strengths and weaknesses. Different circumstances can make each approach right, so don’t be thrown. And of course, each loan and each borrower are different. A mortgage is the pledging of a property to a lender as a security for a mortgage loan for 7 percent. Some will quote you precise, competitive rates 4 percent. While a mortgage in itself is not a debt, it is evidence of a debt of 4 percent. See which lenders are charging fees 3 percent and for how much. Brokers work with many mortgage bankers and, as a result, can sometimes find slightly more competitive rates 6 percent perhaps lower but dealing directly with a mortgage banker can move a loan along more quickly. It is a transfer of an interest in land, from the owner to the mortgage lender, on the condition that this interest will be returned to the owner of the real estate when the terms of the mortgage have been satisfied or performed.
In other words, the mortgage is a security for the loan that the lender makes to the borrower. But others will claim low rates to bring in customers or tell you that the rates 3 percent offered by competitors will change.
So how do you find a lender or broker you can trust’ Start with credibility. It’s not easy to know if the prices quoted by lenders are reliable. Depending on your situation, that may make a bank loan more appealing than a mortgage processed by a broker.
See mortgage loan for residential mortgage lending, and commercial mortgage for lending against commercial property. Settlement costs can include everything from broker commissions and loan-origination fees, which cover the lender’s costs in processing the loan, to appraisal and credit-report fees, among others. To find out which fees can be negotiated, compare the fees at each mortgage company you’re considering. Different lenders charge different fees. In most jurisdictions mortgages are strongly associated with loans 4 percent secured on real estate rather than other property and in some cases only land may be mortgaged. Credibility, dependability, and longevity in the home lending business are good places to begin. Although most mortgage experts say that rates 3 percent are pretty much the same wherever you go, give or take this tiny 5 percentage.
Many of these fees are fixed but some can be negotiated.
Arranging a mortgage is seen as the standard method by which individuals and businesses can purchase residential and commercial real estate without the need to pay the full value immediately.
