He said that his office is preparing to prosecute the offenders in lieu of the evidence provided to them. He has shown his willingness to close down the entire unlawful industry that thrives on sale and purchase of personal data.
Mr Graham wants that people involved in selling private data to third parties should face stiff penalties that should include imprisonment. Presently, the penalty for breach of the data protection act is £5,000.
