When I go traveling I invariably take excessive amounts of things, and most of it must be thrown away subsequently. I don’t know why, although I do the same thing constantly.
Really everything I need is some changes of apparel and my trustworthy camera, but instead I’ll go away with a suitcase that weighs half a tonne just in case I need everything for some reason.
Something I should never pack is the iPod, since I don’t need tunes in my cranium all the time.
As I’ve studied at university I’ve attempted to travel all over Europe to investigate a range of locations. There are lots of cool cities to experience and unusual stuff to admire. I love the mediaeval churches and the castle ruins, because I genuinely like archeology.
I travel by rail most of the time, which isn’t excessively dear as I have a discount for being a student.
My dream for next summer is to travel back Sweden-wards and venture in a northerly direction, to experience what goes on in the Arctic. I love the landscape and I’m invariably pleased when I’m communing with unspoilt scenery.

Verizon’s push to provide a FiOS in Philadelphia by the end of 2008 has been bogged down in metropolis committee meetings plus a play by a cable company to get mobilized. The Business, which owns a tiny part of Philadelphia’s cable franchise, is lobbying for an equity partnership with Verizon. It presently providers thousands of buyers, mostly in Philadelphia Housing Authority units. A town councilman reviewing the Verizon proposal is concerned they might lose consumers as PHA builds more single spouse and children houses, and he has questions about outside minority contractors required inside Verizon installation. Due to delays, the full Metropolis Council could not act till January within the proposal. There’s also a push for Verizon to pay up front for public entry channels. A committee from the Philadelphia Town Council has approved Verizon’s strategy to assemble a huge FiOS network inside the metropolis; the complete Council might approve the settlement in two weeks - assuming no other roadblocks look. First, investigate the organizations that are going and pick your targets. Use the web to research the organizations that are there beforehand. Go to their internet sites and see if they have their openings posted. Pick a sensible number to target, and get ready to spend an hour or more researching each one. It’s hard to do more than 10 in a day, and five or six is a much more reasonable target. For each hiring organization, you want to know: recent news, key product lines, and exectuve names. Try to see if you know anyone at the target companies. You’ll end up with a page or two of research for each company/job.
Second, if there are job openings on the web, read them to see what the organization is looking for. Create a mapping of your achievements and skills to the requirements of the job. Make the nomenclature match. If the hiring company calls customers "clients", your resume should do the same thing. The achievements should be written in the style of the hiring company.
Third, create a ‘brief sales pitch’ for each likely company/job combination. Write down a 90 second ‘thumbnail’ that you can repeat verbally depicting why you are a good prospect for that job. You’ll use this in your resume and when you meet the company at the job kiosk.
Fourth, modify your resume for each position. The objective on your resume should exactly match the position you’re going after. The executive summary should be a written form of your “mini sales pitch” for the job. Then choose the achievements and skills that most clearly match the job description. Especially at a Career Faire, the purpose of your resume is a sales tool for you – to get you on-site job interviews. It should be very easy to see that you’re a match based on your resume.
Fifth, dress and prepare as if you’re doing on-site interviews. Dress nicely and be well groomed. Don’t overdress (this isn’t a date!) and don’t underdress (no jeans or t-shirts, no matter how much you paid for them). Avoid strong cologne or perfume.
Finally, rehearse your ‘mini-sales-pitch’. Collect your research and the resume for each position - bring a couple of copies for each – and put each in a clearly tagged folder. Keep them in a lightweight briefcase or folio.

Well, a Blog is a type of website that allows you as its owner to easily put in your messages and publish it online.
It’s more like a journal or a diary type of site, but what’s interesting is it’s not hidden from others like a normal diary where in only you can write and see it.
A Blog is your personal site and your online diary at the same time. It is a place where you post something and other may post a comment about your post. It’s actually a great site to publish your own opinion and “what you think” thingy.
Now, with all those features how come it’s also a marketing tool? For some it may seem to be a diary or a journal but for some it is more likely to be a place to advertise products and market them.
Why? Because of the ability of Blogs to be crawled easily by search engines and because of the nature of a Blog that makes it look like an e-campus class that consist of a teacher and students. Advertisers, marketers and even programmers can make use of a Blog to post in messages about their products and users could post in their comments too.

You can say a lot about yourself on the Internet but finding places where you can share your thoughts and your dreams safely is not easy. Many Websites now create what are called “mashups”, where they mix content from different sources together. So you might fill out a profile on some Website and then find it is adding news stories to your page — even though the stories may have nothing to do with you. On top of that the site might throw some ads in there, too.
That is so annoying. Sure, the Internet is not really free. Someone has to pay for it. But some of the really tasteless things Websites do are so unnecessary. You might want to look up a few old friends and you find instead their names have been included in autogenerated pages created from a database. But there are a few places where you might find some real stuff. Take Facebook, for example. They don’t yet ride your back to financial success. If you know a guy like Dennis Tamburo you’ll be glad to see his Facebook page is still pretty clean.
It’s okay if they commercialize the Web. Heck, who would not want to make some money off the Internet? But when you just want to know what people are up to, it’s nice when you don’t have to wade through 20 billion flashing advertisements to find what you’re looking for. Your buddy Dennis Tamburo might be mentioned in an article about golf tournaments or something. You just want to read the article without having to digfor the guy’s name. Or, worse, you might have to be careful where you move the mouse because every other word on the page has been hijacked for advertising. Ick.
Some people don’t seem to mind all the clutter that ends up on Websites. Not this writer. Give me the open Webspace, the free ride into information. I’m not interested in clicking on ads. If people don’t want me reading their articles for free they should not put the articles where I can find them. Give me an ad-free page with lots of content and I’m happy.
And let me worry about whether I really want to look for Dennis Tamburo in a database-driven page that lists hundreds of names.
